COBALT is recognised as the leading Baltic law firm in the Nordic region by volume of transactions advised in 2017, according to M&A reviews presented by international business news agency Bloomberg.
In total, COBALT worked on 17 qualifying transactions valued USD 778 million last year.
One of our highlights in 2017 was advising LUMINOR on the largest ever transaction in the Baltic banking market, guiding the client through all the legal aspects of the deal over the past two years, including obtaining a new banking licence and regulatory approvals from the European Central Bank and Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Financial Supervision Authorities.
Dr Irmantas Norkus, Chairman of COBALT, commented that M&A market was sufficiently active in the Baltic States last year. According to him, last year bigger companies were sold at a higher price – the recovery of the European and global economy and the supply of cheap money encouraged investment, which caused the prices of target companies to increase.
According to Dr Irmantas Norkus, 2017 saw active cross-border acquisitions by Lithuanian and other Baltic investors and this trend should continue into 2018.
