Mergermarket, the leading Mergers and Acquisitions intelligence service, and Bloomberg, the international leading business and financial news agency, announced their rankings of M&A law firms in the third quarter of 2018.

COBALT is recognised as the leading Central and Eastern Europe M&A legal adviser by the number of deals in Q3 2018, according to Mergermarket. In the third quarter of 2018, Mergermarket credited twenty-three of COBALT’s deals the value of which exceeds USD 1,258 million. 

What is more, COBALT is recognised as a leading Baltic law firm in the Eastern Europe and Nordic regions by volume of transactions advised in Q3 2018, according to M&A reviews presented by international business news agency Bloomberg. In total, COBALT worked on 29 qualifying transactions.

COBALT advised LUMINOR on the largest ever transaction in the Baltic banking market, guiding the client through all legal aspects of the deal within the past two years, including obtaining a new banking licence and regulatory approvals from the European Central Bank and Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Financial Supervision Authorities.

Luminor announced its entering into a strategic corporate partnership with a consortium led by Blackstone, one of the world’s leading investment firms with USD 439 billion in assets under management. The transaction represents one the largest private equity deals in the Baltic history and COBALT advised Luminor through the entire transaction.
