On 26 January the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks in collaboration with COBALT’s Latvia office and University of Latvia and Microsoft Innovation Center will host an expert discussion on the remote electronic identification of customers of financial services providers.
The discussion will explore ideas and solutions to achieve technology neutral, effective and risk-based regulation in the Latvian market building on the experience of early adopters and digital onboarding solutions.
Recent amendments to the AML/CFT Law mandate the Government of Latvia to adopt a Cabinet regulation on remote identification of customers by electronic identification means, including video identification, eID (electronic signature) and other technology based solutions by 1 April 2018.
