COBALT awarded Legal Consultant of the Year at the annual Investor of the Year awards ceremony

At the 2023 Investor of the Year awards ceremony, held in Riga on the April 19, COBALT was named “Legal Consultant of the Year”. The awards ceremony is a joint initiative of the Latvian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association and the Latvian Business Angel Network to recognise investors, advisers, and industry supporters who have made substantial contributions to Latvia’s investment landscape and business growth. This marks the seventh time Latvia’s office has been honoured with this prestigious accolade by the industry.

COBALT received the award for its legal support across a number of landmark transactions in Latvia including the involvement of venture capital funds. Among the deals disclosed in 2023, COBALT’s expertise was notable in the sale of shares in Latvijas Gāze, providing legal support to the seller, as well as legal assistance to BaltCap regarding its investment in the social and healthcare sector in Latvia through the acquisition of a social care centre,  in the takeover of the high-tech company HansaMatrix, and the acquisition of the multi-industry company Pepi Rer SIA together with the investment company Draugiem Capital, as well as assistance to 1242 Apps AS (a portfolio company of AMP Eleven) in the acquisition of shares in the Latvian technology start-up Chili Labs.
