Simona Oliškevičiūtė-Cicėnienė and Juozas Rimas promoted to partners at COBALT Lithuania


The Lithuanian office of the largest law firm in the Baltics and Belarus – Cobalt has admitted two new partners – Simona Oliškevičiūtė-Cicėnienė, Head of Real Estate and Infrastructure Practice Group, and Dr Juozas Rimas, Head of the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Practice Group.

S. Oliškevičiūtė-Cicėnienė has over fourteen years of experience advising Lithuanian and international companies, private equity funds, as well state enterprises and institutions on public projects, sale and purchase transactions, joint ventures and other complex investment transactions in the areas of real estate, infrastructure and energy law.

Independent legal directory Legal 500 distinguishes S. Oliškevičiūtė-Cicėnienė as a legal expert focusing on real estate transactions, especially in the energy sector and notes that she is “a fighter you want to have on your side in negotiations”.

S. Oliškevičiūtė-Cicėnienė holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree from the Baltic Management Institute (BMI), as well as an International Practice Diploma in International Joint Ventures from the College of Law of England and Wales. At Vilnius University she obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree and continued her legal studies at Université Paris-X Nanterre, France. S. Oliškevičiūtė-Cicėnienė was the President of the European Young Bar Association (EYBA) and of the Lithuanian Young Bar Association.

Dr Juozas Rimas has extensive experience advising local and foreign strategic and financial investors in M&A, private equity, corporate restructuring and other deals.

Juozas Rimas heads the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Practice Group, which was engaged in the largest and most significant transactions in the market – advised Gjensidige Forsikring ASA, a leading insurance company in the Nordic region on the acquisition of the shares in PZU Lietuva, advised the shareholders of the second largest Lithuanian telecommunication services provider UAB Cgates on the sale of their shares to the Estonian company Starman, represented the Polish/Austrian fund manager Mezzanine Management in its investment into UAB Freor LT, a producer of commercial refrigeration equipment, through its third fund Accession Mezzanine Capital III etc.

In 2010 Juozas Rimas gained a PhD in Law from Vilnius University after defending the thesis on private equity transactions and corporate law.

Currently the team of Cobalt has 29 partners: eight partners in Lithuania, eight in Latvia and thirteen in Estonia.
