COBALT’s continued focus on innovation and technology across the Baltics is delivering tangible results. The firm has been recognised as one of the 50 most innovative law firms in Europe and is the only Baltic law firm included in the ranking.
The recognition follows an extensive assessment conducted by RSGI. The research covered 659 submissions and nominations from 141 law firms and 81 in-house legal teams and was informed by interviews with clients, senior lawyers, executives and experts.
The ranking also highlights the innovative work being done for clients. COBALT Estonia Managing Associate Mart Blöndal was commended in the Infrastructure category for his work advising on the development of Estonia’s electricity storage framework. The project helped accelerate regulatory change and remove barriers to large-scale energy storage.
Innovation at COBALT also means finding practical ways to make legal services more efficient and effective. Digital tools are increasingly integrated into our teams’ day-to-day work, with some solutions improving efficiency in specific tasks by 50–80%. This allows our lawyers to spend more time on analysis, strategy and higher-value client work This gives lawyers more time to focus on complex analysis, strategy and higher-value work for clients.
Technology, however, is only one part of the picture. The index assesses firms across innovation, digital capabilities, people and social responsibility, reflecting a broader view of what it means to be an innovative law firm.
COBALT’s recognition among Europe’s leading innovative law firms therefore reflects our focus on combining legal expertise, new technology and sector knowledge to deliver greater value for clients. It reinforces the firm’s commitment to helping clients navigate an increasingly complex business and regulatory environment through innovative and practical legal solutions.
