In the defence sector, collaboration is everything, and for that reason, we are proud to join the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association and the DIANA Network.
The rapidly evolving defence sector plays a vital role not only in national security but also in driving economic growth. In the industry, strong and reliable partnerships can make a real difference, and we are therefore glad to contribute our expertise to the field in an even more strategic and systematic way.
Jesse Kivisaari, COBALT Estonia partner and Defence and Security industry lead, says that joining the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association will further strengthen our commitment to cooperation with defence-sector companies. By working together, we can make a meaningful contribution to the continued development of Estonia’s defence capabilities.
The military technology and defence industries operate in one of the most complex regulatory environments, where precise details are essential. As a legal market powerhouse, our role is to ensure that compliance challenges do not slow innovation, development, and manufacturing, but instead accelerate them through a clear, well-structured legal framework.
Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association
Since 2009, the Estonian Defence and Aerospace Industry Association has represented leading defence and security industry companies in Estonia. Today, the association covers nearly all defence, space and security-related industries in Estonia, bringing together more than 130 member companies. The association’s mission is to create better opportunities for its members in the defence and security markets and to strengthen Estonia’s security and economic development.
COBALT joins the DIANA Network
To further support the growth of the sector, we are pleased to join the DIANA Network this December. Together with other trusted firms in the Alliance, we aim to provide our long-standing expertise in highly regulated and complex industries to assist innovators in the DIANA Programme.
Being part of the network enables us to support early-stage defence companies as they navigate legal questions and work toward achieving their goals. We bring a broad base of knowledge and deep experience to assist innovators as they move through testing, funding, procurement, development and more.
DIANA is NATO’s innovation accelerator, a shared endeavour that brings together innovators from across the Alliance to help NATO maintain its technological edge, defend its citizens, and preserve peace and security. DIANA provides companies with the resources, networks and guidance to develop deep technologies to solve critical defence and security challenges, from operating in denied environments to tackling threats to our collective resilience.
COBALT’s commitment
Supporting the security and long-term resilience of Estonia and the region is essential for COBALT. We are committed to strengthening the defence technology ecosystem through clear legal guidance and strategic partnerships that help the sector grow and enhance Estonia’s defence capabilities.
We also support and encourage our people to contribute to national defence. We maintain full salary during reserve training. Also, our practice lead, Jesse Kivisaari, sets an excellent example. He is a member of the Estonian Reserve Officers’ Association and a reserve officer of the Finnish Air Force and is actively involved in the Estonian Defence League.
We look forward to working alongside the industry to build a more secure and technologically advanced future!
