In June 2026, a time capsule was placed in the foundations of Adoro Care Residence Šmerlis, located at Šmerļa iela 3A in Riga, marking a significant milestone in the development of modern, person-centred long-term care infrastructure in Latvia.

The residence is scheduled to open in June 2027. The three-storey building, with a total floor area of 5,400 m², will provide accommodation for 200 residents, making it the largest Adoro care residence in Latvia to date. The total investment in the project amounts to EUR 14 million.

Led by Managing Partner Dace Silava-Tomsone, COBALT advised Adoro in entering the construction agreement and negotiations with the general contractor.

The new residence will become Adoro’s third long-term care facility in Latvia, complementing its existing Melodija and Šampēteris residences, which provide social and healthcare services, rehabilitation and daily support for seniors and people with special needs.

Adoro is a portfolio company of BaltCap, a private equity fund manager in the Baltics focused on investing in businesses with strong growth potential and a commitment to sustainable development.

COBALT has been advising BaltCap and Adoro on the company’s expansion in the social and healthcare sector for several years. In 2022, COBALT advised on the acquisition of the social care centre Dzīves ābece, followed in 2023 by the acquisition of Senior Baltic SIA, the operator of the Dzintara Melodija senior care residence.
