2024 - 03 - 01

The Legal 500 has published the 2024 edition of its EMEA Green Guide, shining a spotlight on law firms that are actively engaging in sustainability by collaborating with clients and showcasing their own best practices and ESG initiatives.

COBALT has been recommended in the latest edition for our leading role in the Baltic renewables sector, our focus and expertise in green energy transactions, and our commitment to sustainability.

The Green Guide profile features all three offices:

  • “The Estonia office makes a key contribution to the Baltic-wide ESG practice group, with demonstrable expertise in advising international clean energy companies and domestic state organisations on their landmark renewables sector projects.”
  • “The Latvian office is a key advisor to state and private clients in their green transition strategies, assisting with regulation and project developments which are vital to the country’s energy independence and nascent green power sector.”
  • “In Lithuania, COBALT makes a leading commitment to the growth of the region’s clean energy sector, advising investors, developers, and industry associations on their critical green projects.”

The Green Guide also highlights some of our principal specialists:

In 2023, COBALT participated in the Greenspect programme to measure the carbon footprint of all our offices and create targeted policies to mitigate internal climate impact. Having followed the European Green Office principles to reduce operational emissions, the Estonia office was awarded the bronze VEF ESG Quality Certificate for its internal environmental management performance.

About the Legal 500 EMEA Green Guide

The Green Guide lists top law firms in the EMEA region, detailing their case work (e.g., representing clients in litigation and transactions seeking to mitigate climate change, or regulatory advice) and their own sustainability initiatives. Its editorial content highlights the outstanding practices and practitioners within each jurisdiction, acknowledging a firm’s dedication to Green Change and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

Their Green Hub is the first and only single platform dedicated entirely to exploring the legal sector’s engagement with a green transition. From ESG and sustainability to climate action and net-zero, here you will find private practice and in-house perspectives on the move towards a greener economy.
